The fact is, remote learning is particularly hard on youths with disabilities. At school, they may work in quiet, well-staffed, small group settings. Special seating and eye contact with the instructor may help them remain engaged. They may have access to their school’s learning center. Isolated at home, they have none of the structure so crucial to their success, all of the distractions, and no time to adapt.
